Birthday Tag!

Hello, hello! Today is a very special day for me, and to commemorate, I decided to do the Birthday Tag! I searched the interwebs and could not find an original source for this tag unfortunately. If you happen to know where credit is due, please let me know.

I'm excited for this tag. I love when there are opportunities for readers and bloggers to get to know each other better. Now, without any further fanfare... the tag!

1. When is your birthday?

November 1st, 1998.

2. How old are you turning?

3. What was your favorite present that you’ve ever received?

I think my favorite gift was received today! After years of having tattoo plans foiled, I finally got my very first tattoo! The tattoo was paid for as a gift from Jack. I got a very cute carnation on my inner forearm. I'm very in love with the way it turned out. I am now extremely obsessed with getting another tattoo. A monster has been created today.

4. Are you/did you have a party this year? If so what are you doing?

No party this year, I prefer a more lowkey day. Today we went to the tattoo parlor, got breakfast as a local cafe, watched tv, opened presents, and then went out to dinner at a hibachi restaurant. I've never had dinner courtesy of a hibachi chef though I've always wanted to since I was a small girl and unlocked a Teppanyaki grill on Sims Bustin' Out. It was everything I imagined and more. I think we started a new birthday tradition today.

5. How do you usually celebrate your birthday?

I always listen to Good Charlotte on my birthday, starting with the song Like It's Her Birthday. I'm pretty far removed from the days when I had a Good Charlotte poster taped to my closet door, but they always make a resurgence on my birthday. Chocolate cake from a grocery store with atrociously sweet icing is an absolute must. Jack and I also have a tradition where we take a shot for every year we've been together. This tradition becomes more unhealthy with each passing year. I'm writing this post five shots in... it may be time to reassess and amend this tradition before I'm giving myself alcohol poisoning for the sake of tradition.

6. What was the most memorable birthday that you had?

Honestly, I can safely say this has been my favorite birthday ever.

7. If you had an unlimited amount of money what would you do for your birthday?

I'd coin the term "Book Crawl." It's like a bar crawl, but you just bookstore hop and buy every book you could possibly want. Then I'd bar crawl.

8. What’s your birthday wish list?

Books, books, and more books. Also puppies. And apparently now tattoos. Lots of food... and warm things.

9. If you only had one birthday left, what would you do for your birthday?

I'd hope that I didn't know it was my last birthday. Reading I Want To Eat Your Pancreas taught me that it's better to live life the way you'd want to when you're at your best. I want to be with those I love happily doing the things I love, without the heavy weight of an end hanging over us.

10. Have you changed a lot from last year?

The older I get the more I realize a year is actually pretty damn short. I don't know that there were any extravagant changes, but I've come to know myself better. I better know my emotional and mental limitations and have come to understand the importance of taking a real break from working and taking time to do the things I love. My reading habits have been less than great this year, but I'm coming around as I find better work/life balance.

11. Do you have any birthday traditions?

See #5.

12. What’s your favorite part about your birthday?

Who doesn't love having a whole 24 hours to celebrate themselves and everything they love?

13. Have you ever spent your birthday in another country?

No, but if I ever spend my birthday in Hobbiton, I will be one happy human.

14. Have you ever been thrown a surprise party or have you ever thrown one for someone?

Not for myself, but my brother got a surprise party once. I think I'd enjoy throwing someone a surprise party more than I'd enjoy receiving one, honestly.

15. Do you know any celebrity who you share your birthday with?

I share a birthday with the one and only Hello Kitty!

16. What’s the earliest birthday you remember?

I once had a birthday party at the restaurant my mom worked at. I remember having a handful of school friends there. My birthday cake was Harley Davidson themed. We gave our server a slice, and it dyed her teeth black. (Oops!)
